On 15 October, Ecommerce Europe and EuroCommerce addressed to European Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis with a joint letter concerning the Regulatory Technical Standards for strong customer authentication and common and secure open standards of communication under PSD2 and the requirements for the development of dedicated interfaces and Application Programming Interfaces Initiatives in Europe.
While Ecommerce Europe and EuroCommerce welcome the effort of the EBA, the European Commission and the industry in defining key requirements for the development of API initiatives, we strongly believe that those requirements need to be further improved to ensure that APIs fit the need of all market participants.
Considering the ongoing work of the Application Programming Interfaces Evaluation Group (API EG), representatives of the retail sector urge the different stakeholders to continue to work towards workable compromises and wish to reiterate their position and recommendation regarding key requirements under discussion.
